No. 3 Arkansas baseball beats No. 5 Texas A&M, clinches SEC West

After losing a 1-0 heartbreaker in extra innings on Thursday, Arkansas punched back to tie the series against Texas A&M and take the SEC West crown.

The No. 3 Razorbacks took a 6-3 win from the No. 5 Aggies on Friday evening in a game that was tied until the eighth inning. That's when Hudson White sent a ball into the seats to put Arkansas in front.

With the victory, Arkansas not only tied the biggest college baseball series of the year at one game apiece, but also clinched the SEC West title for the fifth time in six seasons. While trying to win a road series against a top-five team is certainly important to Arkansas, clinching the division title before the last game of the regular season certainly takes some pressure off the Hogs.

Mason Molina gave Arkansas three shutout innings in his start, while Gage Wood only gave up three runs in five innings of relief. Parker Coil added a shutout inning, and Arkansas' offense held up its end of the bargain to earn the victory.

Arkansas fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, but was able to tie the game in the sixth. After a scoreless seventh, the aforementioned home run by White put the Razorbacks in front for good.

With the division title clinched, Arkansas can focus all its attention on winning the series. The rubber match between the No. 3 Razorbacks and No. 5 Aggies will begin at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will be televised on SEC Network.

After the series ends, both teams will be on their way to Hoover, Ala., for the SEC Tournament.
